Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (4th) is the next WUG session. See you all tomorrow.
A big thank you to Howard for running the last WUG session, but I’m afraid I’m back now for this Tuesdays WUG get-together! I look forward to seeing you all in a couple of days.
It’s WUG week again! I hope to see as many of you as possible on Tuesday for lots of singing, strumming and some picking too. We will do more on Never tear us apart and, maybe, Smiling makes the day go quicker.
Disappointingly we will not be playing at the Rye Ukulele Festival this year. They say:
“For the last few years we have had bands wanting to play but we have not able to fit everyone in and we have run a waiting list, this year we have approached those bands first to ask if they would like to play and have now made up the full list.”
If you still want to go it will be on 8th July and they will still have a big busk at some point in the day.
I know it’s too late for people to look at for tonight, but I’ve added a video lesson for ‘Never tear us apart’ on our video site here.
I’m quite liking ‘Never tear us apart’ and for those of you who don’t really know it I’ve videoed a quick version of it that we are doing, and put it on our video site under demo songs.
It seems like it’s been a long wait, but the next WUG session is finally here! Tuesday 7th at the same time and place as ever. If you haven’t listened to Smiling makes the day go quicker, please have a look at the video below, as this will make learning the song much easier. Look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.
I’ve put together a new site for WUG videos. At the moment there’s just a few videos from the past couple of years and I’ve also put 6 beginner lessons on there so beginner can hopefully learn a few basics before heading out to a uke group. I’m contemplating making some intermediate video lessons when I’ve got time and think of subjects – any thoughts or requests welcome. I’m also considering having a “sing-a-long with WUG” part of it where we record some of our songs so people can play along with us at home. Thoughts please…
Well after only one session it was discovered that I’d missed out a couple of songs from the new book. So I’ve now added Can’t You See and Stray Cat Strut!
A good start to the year last night despite my inability to read words! Here is a video for Smiling makes the day go quicker. Please have a listen to it so we can try again next session to make it work.
The main revelation last night was finding out the Joe’s favourite chord is Bb major – I think that shocked us all as he seems like more of a G major kind of guy!
