Newest WUG member, and retired consultant anaesthetist, Jerry first started playing the ukulele in 2014 when he was bought one for his birthday by his son. He played and practised rather intermittently at first and used books and online tutorials. For Christmas 2015 his wife bought him a Kala concert and getting a decent instrument was the spur he needed to try and improve his playing. He joined WUG in February 2016 as it has been recommended to him by his wife’s cousin Sheila, who is also a WUGger. He loves soul, Blues, Americana, and Celtic music as well as early Beatles songs, which he would like to play at WUG. Ultimately he would like to learn fingerpicking, but at the moment he’s just aiming to get up to pace with strumming and playing in a group format. His other great passion is cycling and he goes over to mainland Europe a couple of times a year to ride up the mountains.
